Adolescent Program
Rooted in Purpose. Growing in Faith. Inspired for Life.
The Adolescent Program at Creation Acres Montessori brings an intentional, Christ-centered approach to preteen and teen development, drawing from the Erdkinder model pioneered by Dr. Maria Montessori and adapted to our local context.
Designed for adolescents ages 12–15 (and expanding to 16-18), our program nurtures independence, responsibility, and purpose through meaningful work, academic challenge, and spiritual formation. Students engage in real-world learning through:
Applied mathematics and quantitative reasoning
Analytical writing and rhetoric
Socratic seminars (philosophy, ethics, great texts)
Laboratory and field-based science
History through primary sources and culture
Microeconomy projects and student enterprise
Hands-on land work (gardens, animals, sustainability)
Practical and creative arts (making, design, craft)
Faith formation, service, community life, and leadership
Program Highlights
Lunch Program
Students take responsibility for preparing their own lunches, building community by considering one another’s needs and preferences, budgeting wisely, planning menus, and serving each other with care.
Study and Work
In the afternoons, adolescents engage both head and hand as they explore community needs and research practical ways to meet them, integrating science and humanities through meaningful, hands-on work.
Location
Students spend most of their time at a nearby farm campus, where academic work is integrated with environmental studies, agriculture, and land-based science. Our schoolhouse in downtown Mint Hill complements this experience, connecting students to a vibrant, walkable community with access to local businesses, parks, and resources. This balance supports both rigorous, hands-on learning and meaningful engagement with town life.
